P/arte

Dconcept, the gallery that represents my work in SP will be at the stand 10 in P/arte. P/arte is a new art fair opening this Thursday at Pinheiros in Sao Paulo, with the intent of selling affordable art (the maximum price allowed in the fair for an artwork is 15.000 R$). So, if you can, go and buy art!

Iceland!

I spent the month of July in the NES artist residency in Skagaströnd, northern Iceland.

This last picture was taken from my bathroom window  :)

I made 4 books there, all handmade. Here is a pre-preview of these works:

We had some people over at our open studios, wich got a review and some pics by this online icelandic magazine.

Solo show at the Salon Séparée

The salon séparée happens every two months at Lee Bataille´s appartment in Kreuzberg.

I showed two works there: old interior (at the right side of this picture), and estrangement 1, on the left corner behind the crowd. Please check out the Old interior post below to read Lee Bataille´s introductory text to this work. Many thanks to Varis for his help during the set up, and for his djing later!!!

Lichtberg-Herzberg

Collective exhibition that happened from the 13th until the 18th of May at HB55 in Lichtenberg, Berlin. 

Many thanks to Diving for sunken treasure for their concert in the opening party! I also djayed some cumbia music   :)

OLD INTERIOR - solo show at LaPlacette

This show happened in April at LaPlacette in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Many thanks to Mélanie Courvoisier and Lorraine Pidoux for their work and hospitality  :)

The work exhibited is a digital collage printed on 2m13 by 3m50 wallpaper, fitting the size of Laplacette's vitrine. Thanks to Ariel from pandarosa design studio for the help and tips!!

Lee Bataille wrote an introductory text on this work for my exhibition at her Salon Séparée:

Die Bildcollage des Brasilianischen Künstlers Antonio Sobral wirkt wie Raum-Kapseln: Als würden Zeitebenen sich übereinander lagern, um vor uns zum Stillstand zu kommen und sich darüber das Gefühl einstellt, die wachsende Geste wäre eingefroren, das suchende Subjekt haltlos im Raum verloren.

Vor surrealistischen Filmkulissen - kein Wohnraum menschlichen Daseins, keine Heimat schwebender Körper - in Traumsequenzen bewegt sich das magische Sein in zeitlosen Räumen, die nicht mehr als Durchgang sind.

Auf diese plakatgroße Fotomontage erfahren wir jenen Grenzbereich zwischen Fiktion, Traum und Wirklichkeit als Raum.

Inszenierte Zeitstrukturen und amorphe Formen, mittels verschiedenen Epochen entnommenen Fotografien, lenken unseren Blick nach innen indem Sobral mit unserer Wahrnehmung spielt und diese irritiert.
